Ronaldo praises ‘spectacular’ Atleti

Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo has praised Los Blancos’ cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid for their ‘spectacular’ season.

The two sides go head to head on Saturday in the Champions League final in Lisbon, with Real looking for their tenth European Cup win and the Rojiblancos going in search of their first.

In an interview with UEFA, the Portuguese said he is anticipating a special match and says that, though his teammates feel a positive pressure to win, they are confident of doing so.

“It will be a special match,” Ronaldo said. “It will be played in my country and it’s my first Champions League final with Real Madrid, and that makes it special too.

“We are going to play against a team like Atletico who have impressed and been spectacular. But we are going out to win and we are going to give it everything because we want La Decima.

“The team is doing well and we are confident.

“We are a very fast team, we play with three or four touches. We attack very quickly with very fast players up front. We score a lot of goals and that’s what people want to see.

“The fans enjoy it because it is a direct style with a lot of beauty and quality.

“We are an offensive team that likes to score goals, play well and make our fans happy.

“We play without pressure under Ancelotti and that’s something else I like about him. He is a very positive person who always takes the positives. I think that he been translated to the players and that is why I like working with him.

“This is a trophy we have been searching for for many years. Real Madrid have wanted it for a long time and we are feeling a positive pressure to win it.

“We feel that we are just a small step away from winning it. Lifting the trophy is something unique and a special moment.

“It is a moment that all Madridistas dream about. We are very excited and we have to win it!”
