Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta believes that Carles Puyol ‘is the defender every goalkeeper would like to have’.
The Blaugrana captain is calling it a day at Camp Nou this summer after 15 years at the club.
And the board member, who is an ex-goalkeeper himself, has claimed that the centre-back is everything you’d want as a player.
“Carles is the the kind of defender that any keeper would like to have in front of him,” he told a commemoration to the player on Thursday.
“He’s also the dressing room mate we all like to have, giving it his all with total commitment to the team.
“He's always been out there in front, when things have been going well or when they have been going badly.
“Talent is being able to face up to obstacles, knowing how to get up and go on the day after a defeat or an injury.”
