La Liga trio in Croatia squad

A total of three La Liga players have been named in Croatia’s provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

Real Madrid’s Luka Modric and Sevilla’s Ivan Rakitic are joined by Getafe’s Sammir in Coach Niko Kovac’s preliminary 30-man party.

The Balkan nation will contest the opening match of the tournament against Luis Felipe Scolari’s hosts.

The other two teams to make up Group A are Mexico and Cameroon.

Croatia’s provisional World Cup squad:
