Schuster: Malaga ‘unrecognisable’

Bernd Schuster has said some of his Malaga players were ‘unrecognisable’ in the 1-0 defeat to Elche.

A Garry Rodrigues goal gave Fran Escriba’s side the victory and at his post-match Press conference, Schuster was moved to remind Malaga that they aren’t mathematically safe from relegation.

“The problem here is that they are thinking a lot about all the possibilities out there,” Marca reports the Coach as saying.

“It’s causing a lot of damage in general.

“We’ve missed a lot. After Villarreal [who Malaga beat 2-0] I have several unrecognisable players. We’re on the pitch, but we’re not.

“It’s not a problem of desire. The players have been emptied and they have run more than other teams, but when things aren’t going well you have to make more of an effort.”

Malaga currently have 41 points but with Almeria and Real Valladolid, both in the bottom three, having three games to play, they could theoretically be overtaken by the strugglers.
