Tiago: We’ve won nothing yet

Tiago has warned Atletico Madrid not to get ahead of themselves after the Champions League semi-final win over Chelsea.

Atletico’s 3-1 win means they meet Real Madrid in the final on May 24 and by that point could have already claimed the League title, with a four-point lead over Barcelona as things stand.

But Tiago said after the match at Stamford Bridge that while it is a wonderful experience for the supporters, no one can afford to switch off.

“We have reached the final and it’s crazy for us to give this joy to the fans,” the former Chelsea midfielder said.

“This team deserves everything they are doing this season, although it’s true that we haven’t won anything yet.”

Tiago added that he was confident Atletico would progress and felt the goalless draw at Vicente Calderon was a better result for Los Colchoneros than the Blues.

“You always think you’re going to win. I knew the 0-0 at home wasn’t bad and felt that Chelsea would have to come out more,” he continued.

“You could see they weren’t so confident and us, quite the opposite.

“We’ll have our minds set on Levante [Atletico’s next League opponents]. On Sunday we have the most important final of the season.”
