Mario Suarez believes Atletico Madrid deserve to be in the Champions League semi-final but isn’t looking further than the game against Chelsea.
A score draw tonight at Stamford Bridge will be enough to put Atletico through to the final on the away goals rule, with Real Madrid already confirmed in the showpiece, to be held in Lisbon on May 24.
Mario spoke at a pre-match Press conference and AS reports the midfielder as revealing there is a good feeling among his teammates.
“We are very good, very excited, we have earned the right to be here,” he said.
“We are very motivated. Nobody can beat us for hope and if we do well we have a chance of success.
“We expect Chelsea to be similar [to the first-leg]. They won’t go crazy, but will attack a little more because they need a goal.
“We will look for the opposite. We’ll be hard to get through.
“We have to try and give our best, play at 100% and take advantage of the spaces leave us. We are strong away from home.”
Mario added that Atletico have experience of winning trophies and while it would be useful, the match at hand is all he is thinking about.
“We have won several trophies and we know how important the team is,” he said.
“We will try to win this final before the end. We don’t look any further than that. We’ll see what happens in the future.”
