‘CL final? I don’t care who we play’

Karim Benzema has no preference regarding the identity of Real Madrid’s opponents in the Champions League final.

Los Blancos reached the final with a 5-0 aggregate win over holders Bayern Munich and will face either Atletico Madrid or Chelsea, who tonight play the second-leg of their semi-final.

That means it will either be a Madrid derby in Lisbon or a reunion for Madrid and their former Coach, Jose Mourinho, who returned to Stamford Bridge after departing Santiago Bernabeu.

But Marca reports that Benzema has said that nothing will change whoever Madrid face.

“We don’t care. Atletico, Chelsea, it’s the same for us,” the France striker said.

“I signed to win this trophy and I hope we can. We scored four goals [in the second-leg against Bayern] and we are very happy with the result.

“We defended together and then we were ready to attack. The third goal was very good.”

Benzema also offered words of comfort to Xabi Alonso, who will miss the final after he was booked in the first-half against Bayern.

“It’s sad. I feel sorry for him but if we win we will dedicate it to him.”
