Godin: It’s 50-50

Diego Godin believes the outcome of Atletico Madrid’s Champions League semi-final with Chelsea is still up in the air.

The sides drew 0-0 in the first-leg on Tuesday at Vicente Calderon and Godin revealed after the match that the 90 minutes progressed as Atletico had predicted.

“We expected a tough game and we knew they were going to hold the 0-0,” AS reports the centre-back as saying.

“We tried to play a great game and look for the goal at all times but it wouldn’t come.

“The result could be good for either of us. The game will be defined in London.

“We’re 50% favourites to go through. They have a slight advantage playing at home but it’s still 50%.

“We must try to score like we did here because there it would be worth double.”

Godin added that he was pleased with Atletico’s performance in what was arguably the biggest game of an already momentous season.

“I’m content and proud of the display, and I recognise the effort,” Godin continued.

“We’ll continue trusting and encouraging each other and we will give everything to reach the final.”
