Diego Ribas: Atleti wanted more

Diego Ribas has admitted he isn’t satisfied with the goalless draw in the Champions League semi-final first-leg against Chelsea.

AS reports the Brazilian saying after the match that the goal of the team was to win the first encounter.

“This wasn’t our objective. We wanted more but we couldn’t find the goal,” Diego said.

“It’s not a bad result. The game is still open and it might be different next time.

“We have to be smart and take advantage of our opportunities.”

Diego was asked if he was disappointed to be substituted in place of Arda Turan, but he bowed to the authority of Diego Simeone.

“I was prepared to play but the Coach knows when to put me in. I respect that,” he added.

Atletico will be without captain Gabi for the second-leg, a loss that Diego feels will hamper the team but won’t blunt their sharpness.

“We have to prepare well for the next match. We would like Gabi with us but we will remain competitive,” Diego predicted.
