Iniesta: Barca still have desire

Andres Iniesta has dismissed the suggestion that Barcelona have lost the hunger to claim titles and trophies.

Iniesta was speaking at a Press conference prior to today’s Copa del Rey final and Sport reports the midfielder as insisting Barca want to win this game as much as any other.

“We have the capacity to play well and win,” Iniesta said.

“It’s a trophy, a final, and it’s about the joy for our fans and for ourselves and the feeling of winning this trophy.

“The feeling of winning a trophy doesn’t change. It’s a final and the desire to lift the Cup and make your fans happy is priceless however many you’ve won.”

Iniesta added that Barca weren’t looking to win the trophy to ensure the season is a positive one, stressing that campaigns should be judged on different criteria.

“You have to evaluate and plan for the future based on many things, not if you win one or two titles,” Iniesta said.

“In the League we took a step back and we were knocked out of the Champions League but we’ll analyze at the end of the season if this has been a successful year.

“We will fight until we have exhausted all our options in the League but the problem is we don’t depend on us anymore. But we will continue fighting.”
