Barcelona Coach Tata Martino has conceded that defeat in the Champions League quarter-finals is a failure for his side.

The Catalan giants were beaten 1-0 by Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon last night to exit the competition 2-1 on aggregate.

“For a team that is normally accustomed to winning, the defeat will be considered a failure,” Martino told reporters.

“But that is my strict personal opinion on the matter.”

Following last night’s match, Barca left-back Jordi Alba was also asked whether the team had failed but his response differed to that of his Coach.

“For me, no we haven’t,” he answered.
