Mats Hummels has conceded that he has been left with ‘mixed emotions’ after they were knocked out of the Champions League.
The German side beat Real Madrid 2-0 this evening at Signal Iduna Park, but lost 3-2 on aggregate.
“It's a case of mixed emotions. We had our chances and came so close to clinching a miraculous win,” he told reporters after the game.
“We continue to prove exactly what this team is capable of against the best teams in Europe.
“The fans were exceptional. It was almost impossible to communicate with team mates they were so loud.”
