Marcelino is looking forward to seeing his Villarreal side take on Atletico Madrid, believing it’ll be a good test of the Yellow Submarine.
Atletico top the table by a point from Barcelona and three from Real Madrid, with Marcelino telling a pre-match Press conference that Diego Simeone’s side have set the standard this season.
“Neither Real Madrid nor Barcelona has beaten them this year, which shows you their level,” he added.
“Now let’s see if we can win. It won’t be easy but we go there with the idea of doing so.
“We’re not going there already beaten. We think we can win this match.”
Marcelino also doesn’t feel Atletico will be hampered by their injuries.
“If they’ve improved in recent years it’s in the squad. For example, Diego Costa won’t play but David Villa will and I don’t think there’ll be a big difference,” he added.
“They are a strong and supportive team and they have a clear idea of the game.
“Whoever plays, they always compete. They have many resources and attack well.”
