Valdes thankful for support

Victor Valdes has released a message of thanks after undergoing surgery on his torn anterior cruciate ligament.

The Barcelona goalkeeper suffered the injury a week ago against Celta Vigo and is expected to be out for the next seven months.

Valdes had already announced his decision to leave Barca at the end of his season and looks to have played his last game for the club. He will also miss the World Cup.

“The operation went well and I feel really happy with how everything has gone,” Valdes revealed.

“I am raring to get back home to enjoy time with my family and start my recovery as soon as possible.

“I would like to thank everyone who has sent me messages of support during all of these days.

“I feel very proud to have received so much love from so many people.

“Now it’s time to focus and put all my effort into getting back as soon as possible.”
