Enrique: Impossible to stop Messi

Celta Vigo Coach Luis Enrique is looking forward to his return to Barcelona tonight, but not to playing Lionel Messi.

Enrique served Barca as a player for many years and told his pre-match Press conference that this is the first time he has been back at Camp Nou since leaving a decade ago.

He added that the prospect of facing Messi – fresh from a hat-trick in El Clasico – is a frightening one.

“It’s been 10 years since I retired as a player and this is my first time back,” the former Roma boss continued.

“It’s a stadium, a city and a group of fans I consider most special.

“I’ll be back among family, so it’ll be a special occasion for me.

“What we’ll need is for Barca to have a bad day. There’s only one ball and I’m afraid Barca will have it, which happens to all teams they face.

“The Barca squad is powerful and whoever plays is good.

“It’s possible to stop Messi. We’ll have to defend against him however we can, with a stopper and someone to cover.

“Against a player who is capable of dribbling past three players in three metres…how do you stop that?”
