Javier Aguirre believes Espanyol’s 2-1 win over Malaga could have gone either way but fortune was with Los Blanquiblaus.
Pizzi scored the winning goal after Sergio Garcia’s opener was cancelled out by Pablo Perez, who was later sent off.
“It was a close game that we could have lost, but luck was on our side,” Aguirre told reporters.
“The match was very even against an opponent missing a lot of players but they could have won.
“These points give us a lot of flexibility. Now we want to ensure mathematical safety against Barcelona. We have to go and try to win.
“Our team is strong and healthy. Each of our last eight games is a final.”
