Alba: No favourites for Clasico

Barcelona’s Jordi Alba says there are no favourites for his side’s clash with arch-rivals Real Madrid on Sunday.

In what is a pivotal match in the La Liga title race, the 24-year-old acknowledged the quality the Blancos possess but said it is vital that his team win.

“Madrid are very difficult to stop on the counter,” Alba told the media today.

“We need to be very well closed to that to avoid it because it is vital we win this match.

“With Pedro, Neymar or Alexis we play more open and with Iniesta more closed.

“But it doesn’t influence me if there are changes and I feel just as good playing with all of my teammates.

“There are no favourites in a Clasico.

“It is a precious match to play in, Madrid are a great team and this year they are at a great level.

“To win the league you have to win at the Bernabeu.

“Ronaldo and Messi are two global names.

“I’m still saying Messi is better, but I did when I was at Valencia too!

“Let’s hope we can see the best version of Barca and that we can give our everything out on the pitch.”
