Courtois offered new Chelsea deal?

Thibaut Courtois’ future continues to be unresolved, with reports in the Spanish Press claiming that Atletico Madrid will try desperately to keep their man.

The Belgian goalkeeper is on loan at the capital club from Chelsea, but Diego Simeone’s men are desperate to keep the youngster for another season next time out.

Chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin has, according to AS, been to London several times to try and discuss terms with the Blues.

But the paper now insists that Courtois has been offered a new contract at Stamford Bridge beyond his current 2016 deal, and will only be allowed to stay at Atleti for another season if he pens that extension.

They reveal that Courtois’ agent has informed Chelsea that the keeper is keen to stay on at Vicente Calderon for a further season but Coach Jose Mourinho will only consider such an agreement if the player extends his contract.

The offer is, in all likelihood, in response to rumours that the towering No.1 would leave for Real Madrid when his deal was up in west London.
