Emery stresses derby focus

Sevilla Coach Unai Emery wants the attention on the pitch for the Europa League derby with Real Betis.

The sides meet at Sevilla’s Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Thursday and Emery doesn’t believe that Betis should be considered weak because they go into the game bottom of La Liga.

“This is a Betis that’s feeling better, where there’s more confidence as a team and individually and their collective and individual performances are looking much better,” Emery told a Press conference.

“That’s a true evaluation of how Betis are now, the Betis we’ll face on the pitch.

“It’s what happens on the pitch that counts, that’s where things will happen.

“I think it’s going to be a very even tie and we can’t waste one minute. Every minute of both games has to be played with a lot of intensity.

“The connotations are different than in a League match. What doesn’t change is that both teams are looking to win.

“These will be two great games for all the supporters. We want to enjoy the moment even with all the difficulty of playing a derby.”
