Atletico Madrid midfielder Raul Garcia has credited the team’s hunger with driving Los Rojiblancos forward in the Champions League.
Garcia scored as Atletico beat Milan 4-1 on Tuesday night – to make it 5-1 on aggregate – and told UEFA’s official website that despite what looks to be an emphatic win, it wasn’t so straightforward.
“The team is progressing nicely. We are showing hunger to get through the rounds,” Garcia said.
“Our objective has been achieved so let's see what happens next,” he added.
“Knowing that we were facing difficult opponents, we are very happy [to have gone through]. It wasn't easy at all.
“We must remember and be conscious of the fact that we had difficult moments tonight.
“However, I think our team is mature and we know how to tighten up when these moments arrive. In the end you saw how we managed to win.”
