Costa: Champions League is special

Diego Costa believes the Champions League is a special competition and wants Atletico Madrid to remain in it a while yet.

Atletico play Milan on Tuesday in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie against Milan and welcome the Italians to Vicente Calderon with a 1-0 lead.

Costa scored the only goal of the game at San Siro and told UEFA’s official website that he dreams of winning the competition.

“We all do, not just me,” Costa added.

“It’s a dream we know is very difficult, complicated, but we will go game by game and hopefully get through the tie against Milan. We will think about winning it later.

“My teammates told me, Tiago especially, that the Champions League is another world and I wanted to feel it myself.

“The Champions League is special, and impressive for any player to take part in.”

Costa added however that he doesn’t approach Champions League games any differently to games in other competitions.

“I try to give everything in every game. I am a person who fights hard. I don’t like to lose and I try for my life in every game,” the new Spain cap said.

“[Diego Simeone] has been very important for the way we go into every match, not only for me but for every player at the club.

“The Coach has shown us that through hard work and struggle you can achieve your goals.”
