Barca target Silva wants PSG stay

Thiago Silva has insisted he wants to remain at Paris Saint-Germain, although he is aware of interest from Barcelona.

Silva has been mooted as a possible replacement for the departing Carles Puyol but he told Marca that he intends to remain in France.

“I feel good and valued when [rumours of Barca] appear in the Press. I’m glad my performances are being recognized,” the former Milan player said.

“But I’m happy in Paris and I hope to fulfil my contract.”

Silva added that while he feels PSG are one of the contenders to win the Champions League this season, he sees Spain as providing some of the toughest opposition.

“I think [the Spanish teams] are very strong. Last year we were eliminated by Barcelona and this year we’ve faced Real Madrid in friendlies.

“We saw Madrid’s great qualities and they have a great Coach but surely if we face them again it’ll be different.”
