The referee who sent off Cristiano Ronaldo against Athletic Bilbao is due to return from suspension next weekend.
Miguel Angel Ayza Gamez dismissed the Real Madrid forward during the 1-1 draw at San Mames, with Ronaldo subsequently given a three-game ban.
But the official was disciplined after submitting a report on the game that was unclear. Ayza Gamez didn’t specify if he sent off Ronaldo for appearing to headbutt Carlos Gurpegi or for his tangle with Ander Iturraspe.
Ayza Gamez also first reported that a booking was issued, rather than a red card. He has been assigned the match between Getafe and Granada on March 14 after 40 days on the sidelines, AS reports.
