Barca treble on Xavi’s mind

Xavi Hernandez has said Barcelona would like to win the treble this season but won’t prioritise one trophy over another.

The Copa del Rey, Champions League and League all conclude in coming weeks and while Xavi would like to win all three, he won’t turn up his nose at any prize.

“At Barcelona you can’t rule out winning a particular trophy,” he told a Press conference.

“We’re battling to win all three and we’re in an excellent position to do so. It depends on us, if we win all our matches, we’ll win the treble.

“We’ll remain prudent because we know how difficult it will be to do that but we are going for all three.

“All three of us are favourites [for the title], and Barca are the reigning champions.

“We are in a favourable position although it’s true that Madrid are in a better position than us right now.

“Our aim is to continue to fight in all three competitions. We’re optimistic and we’ll be waiting to see what the others do because they could drop points between now and the end of the season.”

Xavi concluded by touching on the future of Carles Puyol, his long-time teammate about whom rumours of retirement have circled.

“Puyol is still under contract. He hasn’t said anything to me or the others,” Xavi revealed.

“He seems perfectly relaxed, as he always does. He’s our captain, our leader and hasn’t said a word about leaving.”
