Llorente hoping for Italy call

Juventus striker Fernando Llorente is hopeful of turning out for Spain in the friendly against Italy next week.

Llorente told Radio Marca that with so many of his Juve teammates likely to line up for Italy, he would relish the chance to play against them.

“I would be thrilled [to play against Italy] because half the Juventus team plays for them,” he said.

“It would be nice to face my teammates.”

Llorente, who has scored 10 Serie A goals in his first season in Italy, added that he believes he can make an impact in Brazil at this summer’s World Cup.

“There are a lot of strikers but it will be a long tournament. The decision is Vicente Del Bosque’s

“Spain’s strikers are at a significant level and I will be too.”

Llorente, who turned 29 on Wednesday, concluded by praising the form of a potential rival for a place this summer.

“Jese is doing very well,” the former Athletic Bilbao player agreed.
