Jagoba Arrasate has said Real Sociedad’s strong performance beat Barcelona, rather than a poor Barca losing at Anoeta.
Arraste was at pains to credit his team in his post-match Press conference following the 3-1 win, insisting that Barca’s strength was seen in the midweek win over Manchester City and that is what La Real had to overcome.
“Barca were the best before this match,” Arrasate told reporters.
“If Barca seemed poorer in this match then that’s because of the work we have done.”
Arrasate added that the victory wasn’t about revenge for the Copa del Rey semi-final, where Barca won over two legs to progress to the final.
“We’ve moved on,” he said.
“Victory is important when you aspire to something great. It’s the players that make you good or bad.
“We’ve got options for European football now. But we’re willing to fight for fourth place.”
