Manchester City are monitoring Isco’s situation at Real Madrid closely with Manuel Pellegrini considering a new approach for the midfielder.

Isco played under Pellegrini at Malaga and the Chilean wanted to take him with him to the Etihad Stadium last summer, only for Isco to opt to stay in Spain and join Real Madrid.

But Carlo Ancelotti has benched Isco in recent games after altering the Madrid formation and, without a natural place in the new set-up, Isco’s game time has been limited.

City face competition from Serie A side Milan but if Isco asks to leave Madrid, the Premier League side will be ready to step in, Marca says.
