Cesc Fabregas has credited victory over Manchester City to Barcelona’s ability to execute a game plan.
Goals from Lionel Messi and Dani Alves gave the Catalans a 2-0 victory and put Barca in a promising position for the home leg in March.
City went down to 10 men when Martin Demichelis was sent off in the incident that brought about the penalty and Fabregas feels Barca could have racked up an even more commanding lead.
“We could have done more damage but we’re happy with the result,” Fabregas told reporters.
“We expected City to be filled with pride and go out to attack.
“Playing how we did, we’re difficult to beat. This is the best way for us.”
The former Arsenal captain added that Barca’s success came because they didn’t deviate from the methods that have worked so well in recent years.
“The scenario was the same as always. Control the ball, don’t let them have chances.
“That’s the script and it worked. We kept to our script excellently.”
