Romeu to miss more than a month

Valencia midfielder Oriol Romeu has been ruled out for between four and six weeks after suffering a knee injury.

Marca reports that the diagnosis is actually good news for Romeu, who it was feared would be missing for a much longer period after a knee injury ended his season prematurely last year.

The on-loan Chelsea player underwent arthroscopy on Monday to repair a ruptured medial meniscus in his right knee and will need more than a month to recover.

But the injury could have curtailed Romeu’s season if there was damage to the ligament.

Valencia and Chelsea have been in contact regarding Romeu’s fitness and agreed on the course of action to take regarding the procedure.
