Falcao: Ronaldo ban unjust

Radamel Falcao has come to the defence of Cristiano Ronaldo after the Real Madrid forward was handed a three-game ban.

The Portugal international was given a straight red card last weekend against Athletic Bilbao, after striking out at Carlos Gurpegi and making an alleged gesture towards the fourth official.

However, the Monaco forward believes that the incident was not worth the extended suspension.

“I think the suspension is totally unjustified. Everyone in football, without exception, knows that Cristiano did nothing.

“From now on after this suspension, it won’t be possible to make out the difference between a player who does nothing and one who throws punches. It’ll be the same offence because it’ll be the same punishment.”

“In football, with the way footballers provoke each other [during matches], what Cristiano did is nothing.”
