Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino has responded to rumours linking him with a switch to Real Madrid.
The Daily Mirror, citing ‘report in Spain’, claimed late on Thursday evening that the Saints Coach was being targeted by Los Blancos as a possible replacement for Carlo Ancelotti.
And the former Espanyol man, who has impressed on the south coast this season, has admitted that the Santiago Bernabeu outfit would be an attractive option.
“Real Madrid are an amazing club and you never know what can happen in football, but at present all my thoughts are on Southampton,” he told the paper.
“I am under contract until the end of this season and next, so there is time.
“A contract does not guarantee you are going to be at a club. You could sign a 10-year contract and be sacked the next day, or decide you want to leave. I don’t think a contract is that important.”
