Manchester City could have Fernandinho fit to play Barcelona in the Champions League later this month.
The Brazil midfielder missed City’s 1-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Monday with a thigh problem and was initially ruled out of the Barca game.
However, there is now said to be an outside chance he could be fit for the first-leg on February 18, when Barca travel to the Etihad Stadium.
A timescale of two weeks has been put on Fernandinho’s recovery, which gives the 28-year-old a chance of playing against the Catalans, although a four-week period has been described by the Daily Telegraph as the ‘worst-case scenario.’
City are already without Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri, both of whom are expected to miss the next three weeks.
Aguero has a hamstring injury while Nasri is ruled out with a medial ligament problem.
Barcelona are waiting on the fitness of Neymar, who sprained his ankle in January.
