‘Valencia too good to reject’

Philippe Senderos has said he was happy to remain at Fulham until Valencia’s interest became known late on deadline day.

The Switzerland defender made the move to the Mestalla in the final hours of the winter transfer window and told reporters it was an opportunity he couldn’t turn down.

“They told me about the interest from Valencia really late on. I was just completely focused on working with Fulham,” Senderos said.

“However, I think that this is a great opportunity for me and that is why I accepted it.

"I really want to play in La Liga and playing for Valencia is a great challenge for me.

“I know that we can challenge to play in the Europa League again and go a long way in the competition.

“I am physically in great condition as I played only a week ago. I am ready to start right now.”

Senderos, whose mother is Spanish, began his career at Servette and spent six years with Arsenal.

The 28-year-old also had time on loan with Milan and Everton before the permanent move to Fulham in 2010.
