Arrasate welcomes ‘historic’ Copa tie

Jagoba Arrasate believes Real Sociedad’s Copa del Rey quarter-final second-leg has his players on the verge of history.

La Real lead Racing Santander 3-1 from the first meeting between the sides, with the second encounter scheduled for El Sardindero on Thursday evening.

However, Racing’s players have threatened to boycott the tie unless the board of the third tier club steps down.

Arrasate offered solidarity to the Racing players but wants to ensure that if the game does go ahead, his players are ready for what lies ahead.

“We are focused and prepared for the match,” Arrasate told a pre-match Press conference.

“This is a very important game for La Real.

“We’d be thrilled to qualify because it would be historic for La Real to reach the semi-finals.”

Barcelona will provide the opposition for the victors after they saw off Levante 9-2 on aggregate.
