Adan believes in Betis

Antonio Adan believes Real Betis can avoid the drop this season but insists he will stay on even if they go down.

Adan was unveiled as a Betis player on Wednesday, having spent a short period at Serie A side Cagliari.

The 26-year-old left Real Madrid in the summer and admits he is disappointed he won’t get the chance to play his first club this season, although holds no ill-will towards the Santiago Bernabeu.

“I would have liked to play Madrid,” Adan told reporters.

“But I wouldn’t have been out for revenge. I have no grudge against them.

“I was there 16 years and they treated me well. I have only good words for them.”

Betis were beaten 5-1 by Madrid in a result that led to the sacking of Juan Carlos Garrido and has contributed to the Verdiblancos falling 10 points short of safety.

“This is a great club that moves a lot of people,” Adan said.

“It is logical that the group is emotionally damaged by the pressure to which we are subject.

“There’s a lot of it when you have 50,000 people screaming against you. But we want to reverse this.

“I’m happy to be here. The group is very good and we are all eager to continue working to turn around the situation.”
