Ancelotti: Madrid’s chance now

Carlo Ancelotti believes the League calendar means Real Madrid have the perfect chance to show their strength.

Madrid play before both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, with a win over Granada at the Santiago Bernabeu taking Ancelotti’s team two points clear at the top of the table.

Having trailed the current top two only a matter of weeks ago, the Italian feels going top, albeit briefly, will illustrate his side’s powers of recovery.

“The calendar gives us the chance to go top,” he told his pre-match Press conference.

“Having been six points behind, this is very important.

“It means we’re doing well but what we need to think about is playing well, staying focused on the game and winning.

“But Granada is a team that is doing well. They’re currently in very good condition.”

Granada go into the Saturday afternoon game in 10th, with 24 points from 20 games.

Ancelotti also gave an indication as to the team he will select for the fixture.

“[Angel] Di Maria will play, with Xabi Alonso and Luka Modric.

“Isco has not had many opportunities lately because the system doesn’t suit him. We’ll change the system for some games.”
