Real Sociedad Coach Jagoba Arrasate is not taking Racing Santander lightly ahead of the Copa del Rey fixture.
Racing are currently in Segunda B but having knocked out Sevilla and Almeria to reach the quarter-final stage, Arrasate insists his side are approaching the game as they would regardless of the stature of the opponent.
“If we don’t do things right, Racing will continue with their surprise,” Arrasate told reporters.
“Remember, they won away at Sevilla and Almeria, two top division sides.
“We know they are a dangerous opponent.”
The first-leg takes place at La Real’s Anoeta and Arrasate believes playing at home is always an advantage.
“By its nature it is,” he said.
“With good defensive organisation and speed in attack it’s better to play at home.”
Arrasate also conceded that he would have preferred playing Racing than any of the other teams still in the competition.
“Theoretically they do have less quality.
“But I know what Racing can do, especially if you let them.”
