Carlo Ancelotti has praised Fabio Coentrao’s ‘focus’ despite the Portugal defender being sent off against Osasuna.
Los Blancos beat Osasuna on Wednesday evening in the Copa del Rey, thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria.
But when asked about the wantaway Coentrao, the Italian tactician responded with clear praise for the full-back.
“Fabio was unlucky with the sending off, he had a very good game,” Ancelotti told a Press conference.
“He's completely focused, he didn't make any errors apart from the sending off. We have to evaluate the entire game he played.
“We always had the game under control and we were able to score early. We were solid in defence and then we were able to score the two goals.
“They started as we expected they would, with intensity, pressing us high up the pitch, but after Cristiano's goal it was very difficult for them.”
Ancelotti then remarked on how his side’s season had played out so far.
“The most difficult moment is still to come. Every game from now is important. The team are focused, we haven't been playing well in every game because it's not easy at this stage of the season, but we are very excited about the future.”
