Neymar: I want to win it all

Brazil forward Neymar has said he wants to win every possible trophy this season, including the Champions League with Barcelona.

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Neymar refused to prioritise one trophy over another, placing equal emphasis on winning the Copa del Rey with Barca and the World Cup with Brazil.

“League, Cup, Champions League, World Cup…I’m playing in them all and I’m going to play to win.

“I hope to make history with my club and the Seleção.

“They all have their importance and value. So I want to win them all.”

Neymar was named as one of the best players in the world by Lionel Messi, who voted for his colleague in the Ballon d’Or that was won on Monday by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Thanking Messi for the recognition, Neymar conceded that while he believes Messi should have won the award, Ronaldo is a good choice as well.

“I really appreciate [Messi voting for me].

“It’s an honour and I am very happy to be voted the best in the world.

“I can’t say it’s unfair [that Ronaldo won]. Cristiano and Messi are different players but both make a difference.

“I would have voted for Leo but I think the ball is in good feet.”

Neymar is still in his first season at Camp Nou and revealed that being part of the Ballon d’Or ceremony was a particularly exciting moment.

“It’s different for me because four years ago my idols were Messi, Xavi [Hernandez] [Andres] Iniesta and Cristiano and now I’m with these cracks at a party.

“It’s a great thing that makes you feel fulfilled.

“I’m very happy about my start here and I know I can do much more for this club.

“Dani [Alves] has always helped me a lot. He was very important for my adaptation here. He is a great friend who helps me.

“What I want is to help my teammates.

“The goals and assists keep coming but the most important thing is to keep winning. I can assure you that we are prepared for it.”

Insisting that European football is as tough as Brazilian football, Neymar predicted the three-way title fight to last the full campaign.

“We are three very big teams all going for the title.

“Atletico are playing well, Madrid too, but we can still grow and I’m very confident that we’ll be champions in the end.

“I cannot wait [to play more with Messi]. Together we can do many things, win many games and help our team.”
