Barca told ter Stegen price

Barcelona have been told to pay €12m to Borussia Monchengladbach to sign Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

The Germany international has been identified by the Catalans as their preferred choice to replace Victor Valdes, who has announced he will leave the club this summer.

Ter Stegen has an agreement with Gladbach that he can leave for €12m and it is now down to Barca to meet the fee, Mundo Deportivo reports.

Gladbach believe they are in a strong position to demand the full amount as Barca have settled on ter Stegen as the player they want and are in need of a solution to fill Valdes’ vacancy.

Barca’s situation is further complicated by the uncertain future of Jose Pinto, who, like Valdes, will be out of contract this summer.

It is not yet known if Pinto will renew or be offered a renewal, and should he depart then Barca will be in the market for a second goalkeeper to support ter Stegen.

Pepe Reina has been proposed as an experienced back up to ter Stegen but signing the Gladbach player is the priority at Camp Nou.
