Luis Enrique: Valencia win vital

Celta Vigo Coach Luis Enrique has hailed his side’s win over Valencia and backed his side to stay up this season.

A brace from Brazilian forward Charles gave Celta the three points, cancelling out Dani Parejo’s opener for the visitors, taking Os Celticos into mid-table.

Luis Enrique believes the come-from-behind victory illustrates the character in his squad – and that it will stand them in good stead for the rest of the season.

“The result is very important to us,” Enrique told a post-match Press conference. “The reaction of the team showed that.

“We’ve suffered, but this is the way to change it and score points.

“Today was worth the suffering. I’m very satisfied.”

The former Roma Coach added: “Overall the team has been very good, especially since we said at half-time we could turn the match around. We grew in the second-half.

“Yesterday we talked of the importance of getting two consecutive victories and next Saturday at the Cornellá-El Prat, we’ll have the opportunity to do that again.”

Enrique also voiced his pleasure at seeing his side outside the bottom three at the half-way point of the season.

“We’re outside the relegation zone, which was our aim.

“I’m still optimistic that the team will improve in the second half of the season. Anyway, I think 38 points will be enough to stay up.”
