We can beat Atleti claims Piatti

Pablo Piatti believes Valencia can beat Atletico Madrid in the first-leg Copa del Rey clash at the Mestalla on Tuesday.

The diminutive Argentine winger maintains Los Che are a team that is continuing to improve and will be looking to put in an impressive performance against Diego Simeone’s men.

“We are going out to win. That’s our aim. We are at home and with our fans behind us to give us strength we can do it,” he told a Press conference.

Valencia go into the game on the back of a 2-0 derby win at the weekend against Levante, in which Piatti scored the opening goal just before half-time, and he acknowledges his personal situation at the club is now more positive.

“Personally, my objectives have always been very clear and for me it is essential to strive to do my best every day.

“I’ve worked hard and the results are starting to show, so it’s just a question of attitude.

“But we also need to look at the collective aspect and hold on to that dynamic to keep growing as a team. That’s what matters to us.”

Piatti went on to speak about Miroslav Djukic’s time on the bench before he was replaced by Juan Antonio Pizzi almost two weeks ago.

“You learn from everyone. What happens to you in another era serves you well in terms of experience.

“Now we have another person in charge and the team wants to do its best to achieve its goals.

“We must seize this [opportunity] because it is no time to be looking back,” he explained.
