Carlo Ancelotti was happy with Real Madrid’s win over Paris Saint-Germain and mused that when given the chance, those like Jese Rodriguez must respond.
Los Blancos defeated Ancelotti’s former side in a mid-season friendly in Qatar on Thursday 1-0 thanks to Jese’s first-half strike.
“It was not easy to play after the break and having not done anything for a week,” Ancelotti commented afterwards.
“Real Madrid played well and it was a good match to watch.
“PSG played well too. They have a great team and played very well. They are very confident and have a very nice, stable style of play.
“Jese? The players are pleased to get the minutes. Everyone wants to play more, but for us it is important that when they play, they play well, and that is what he is doing.”
Next up for Madrid is a return to League action, next Monday against Celta Vigo.
"It's a very competitive competition. Atletico and Barcelona are having a great season and we will try to make up the points in the second half of the season, play well and get on a good run of results.”
Ancelotti was also asked about the situations regarding Iker Casillas and Xabi Alonso.
“Casillas’ situation is very clear – he will play in the Champions League and the Cup as well.
“About Xabi Alonso – I think that we will find a solution and reach an agreement between club and player.”
