Raul: Madrid must respect Schalke

Raul Gonzalez has reflected on still following Real Madrid from afar, as well as warning them of Schalke’s potential in the Champions League.

The Last 16 of the competition will pit the striking legend’s two former clubs against one another. Whilst Los Blancos are favourites, the former Bernabeu No 7 has commented on Schalke’s potential too.

“It will be a special tie for me. For Schalke it is going to be great and I am glad for my friends and the fans there for that tie,” Raul has commented to Madrid’s official website this Thursday.

“Real Madrid are superior, but they must be aware because the German teams fight and fight until the end. They also have a very good team.

“I’m always true to Real Madrid and I try to watch every game, but sometimes it is difficult with the time difference. I try to support them, but sometimes I suffer.

“We are in a great moment of the season and we are seeing the best.

“The team is in a privileged position in the European Cup whilst in the League there are many chances for the comeback.”

Raul was talking ahead of attending Madrid’s friendly with Paris Saint-Germain in Doha, Qatar. The 36-year-old, who is based in the country with Al Sadd, met with Florentino Perez and the playing squad ahead of the match.

“Today the stadium is going to feel smell. Between Real Madrid and PSG there are no friendlies and hopefully people will enjoy this and there will be many goals.

“They have come from nearby countries to watch the match and here it will be a party.”
