Atletico Madrid have reportedly turned down an enquiry from Serie A side Inter for Raul Garcia, intent instead on negotiating an extension with him.
The 27-year-old has proven to be in good form over the course of the first few months of the season and heads into the winter break level with David Villa as the squad’s second highest goalscorer.
Those 10 goals scored in all competitions represent a return that Marca have reported in recent days has had Inter enquire as to his potential availability.
However, the Italians apparently did not even get to the stage of discussing possible numbers to any deal, with Los Colchoneros seen as having immediately made clear the attacking midfielder is not for sale.
Reports are that Atleti are instead keen to negotiate a contract extension with Raul Garcia, as his current deal expires in June 2015. It is a situation that the player is also believed happy to run through.
