Diego Costa has insisted that ‘the most important thing is the team’ as Atletico Madrid won 3-2 against Levante on Saturday.
The naturalised Spanish striker netted two second half goals to give the capital club all three points, as they leapfrogged Barcelona into first place.
“It was an important game,” he told reporters. “We wanted to finish the year winning, the team is in good shape, things are going well for me personally and I hope they keep it up.
“The most important thing is the team, a striker always needs goals, but what really matters is that these goals help to score points.
“We must follow the same dynamics to go far.
“This time the players have suffered. It has been very hard, but great teams have to know how to play these games.”
