Valdes won’t reveal new club today

Victor Valdes is notably holding today’s Press conference for Barcelona, but the club do not believe he will be announcing his destination for next season.

The goalkeeper is confirmed as on his way out of the Catalans at the end of the season, when his contract expires.

Heavily linked with Monaco, the 31-year-old has been generally expected in recent weeks as ready to announce in January – when he can officially begin talks with interested clubs – where he will be signing for come the summer.

However, the club’s announcement that the player is facing the media today, even though he is currently injured, had led to speculation that he could reveal his future plans earlier than anticipated.

Mundo Deportivo, though, report that Barca were keen that one of the club’s captains held the final Press conference of the year, so Valdes was selected.

The publication also assert that Barca apparently do not believe Valdes will be making an announcement on his future.
