Barcelona President Sandro Rosell has today confirmed that Andres Iniesta has signed a new deal with the club until June 2018.
The midfielder had been in talks with the Catalans since the summer over a new contract, and was widely seen to have rejected a first offer in the autumn.
However, on from recent speculation that a deal was close to completion, Barca’s President has today affirmed that he has signed on, extending his current deal by three years.
“The renewal is confirmed, we shook hands that and that has value with someone like Andres,” Rosell has told RAC 1 today.
“We will make it official on Monday. We are very pleased with the renewal, it’s a great Christmas gift for all at Barcelona.
“He renews until 2018, and then year on year depending on his sporting performance.”
Barcelona quickly followed up the news with confirmation on their official website.
