Diego Maradona has backed Cristiano Ronaldo to win the FIFA Ballon d’Or ahead of Lionel Messi this year.
The Argentine has previously been vocal in his support of his compatriot at former club Barcelona, having also worked with Messi at international level.
However, for this year’s award recognising the world’s best player, the footballing legend has asserted that Real Madrid’s leading man deserves praise.
“Messi has been injured a lot this year, Cristiano Ronaldo should win the Ballon d’Or,” Maradona has commented to Le Buteur this week.
