Andoni Zubizarreta has welcomed Barcelona’s pairing with Manchester City in the Last 16 of the Champions League.
The duo will meet for the first time in the first knockout stage of UEFA’s premier competition, after being placed together at today’s draw.
“This will be a great tie against several players we know well,” mused Zubizarreta of the Catalans’ opponents next February and March, who list a number of former La Liga stars on their books.
“It’s two teams who attack very well and who have a lot of talent within their ranks, from the goalkeeping positions right through to the forwards, and that's what will make these two games even more attractive.
“A tough draw? It will also have been hard for City to have drawn us, knowing that they have to face Barca.
“Years ago when we have spoken about an important tie in Manchester, we would have thought about United.”
